. today, vice president joe biden gave president obama his recommendations one day early on the task force. in a meeting with the house democrats, joe biden said he has identified 19 executive actions the president can take on gun control. president obama said he will release the details of those recommendations later this week. here is what the president had to say about gun control today. >> well, what you can count on is things i have said in the past, the belief that we have to have stronger background checks. that we can do a much better job in terms of keeping these magazine clips with high capacity out of the hands of folks who should not have them. and assault weapons, the ban is meaningful. those are things i continue to believe make sense. if there is a step we can take that will save even one child from what happened in newtown. we should take that step. >> richard wolff, the nra is a very strange operation. they have said that video games are a big problem in promoting violence in this country. and yesterday, the nra released a free app that we'll put up on the screen that allo

president joe biden is expected to present his plan to prevent more massacres on tuchlzesday. but i want to put up remarkable numbers them. nra contributed $20 million to federal campaigns last year. $20 million and gun control groups gave $4,000. and, 50% of the members of the new congress, more than half have an a-rating from the nra. given all of that, how do you and other groups that feel as you do, hope to take on the gun lobby in practical terms? how do you match their money and clout on capitol hill. >> look, the nra spent a lot of money on the elections last cycle and didn't have a lot to show for it, especially if you look at the senate and a lot of their candidates lost and, we're looking at return on investment, they had a very low return on investment. but, of course the nra is a very strong lobby and, i think the issue here is, who is going to represent the voices of the american people in this debate? we are talking about things that seem like common sense to the american people and they understand we need to protect people's rights to own a gun in their own home an protect

opinion here. you are going to see joe biden come out with his report on tuesday. i am sure the president will mention it in the inaugural address and really push it in the state of the union address. i still get the impression from talking to candidates head of the liberal think tank one of the groups involved. the president will rebegin up his campaign. i think you will see this on a lot of issues to get a lot of like minded people to raise money to put pressure on congressmen by public education camps saying voters i think they are going to go smaller rather than bigger. i think i will propose stop on weapons ban. they will get through a universal background check. 40 percent of all of the guns sold are not subject to any check. i think one of the arguments they will make is and you could argue it right or wrong. one of the arguments they will make if the problem isn't the weapon but the person holding the weapon why shouldn't there be any check when someone buys a gun they don't have mental health problems. >> i hear you have senator blumenthal also. you had a chance to talk to him. i
